NUTRITION & YOU (bread and cancer)

Eating a nice crunchy slice of bread - how could that be bad for you? A study carried out by the Mario Negri institute for Pharmacological Research in Millan, Italy has linked consumption of bread to kidney cancer. The study published in the International Journal of Cancer examined the lifestyle and medical history of 2,301 adults, 767 of whom had kidney cancer. It was discovered that those of the group who had eaten the most bread had a 94 percent higher risk of developing kidney cancer. Consumption ranged from 9 - 28 portions per week, with a single portion consisting of around one and a half slices of bread. The scientist involved in the study theorised that the increase in blood sugar levels caused by high bread diet is to blame.
